Financial Accountability

Effective Date: September 4, 2026

Lishe kwa Ufanisi is committed to the highest standards of financial transparency, ethical fundraising, and fiscal responsibility. As a community-founded initiative, we believe every shilling donated should be fully accounted for and put toward maximum impact: feeding hungry learners and keeping them in school.

5.1 Our Shared-Responsibility Model

Our cost-efficiency comes directly from our distributed model of shared responsibility:

  • Cereals: Contributed directly by parents.
  • Firewood: Gathered and provided by learners themselves.
  • Donations:Because the community provides these raw materials, donations we receive go directly toward our core cash costs - paying fair cooks' salaries (two cooks at each partner school) and sourcing porridge ingredients.

5.2 Ethical Fundraising and Donor Rights

  • Honest Representation: Any fundraising conversations reflect our actual activities and milestones - from our first partner school, Nyabiage, in 2021, to Kobila in 2024 and Kodhoch in 2025.
  • Designated Donations: A donation made for a specific school or purpose will be used strictly for that purpose.
  • Corporate Partnerships: We maintain transparent relationships with corporate partners, such as Cargo Power Logistics, ensuring no conflict of interest compromises our commitment to the schools and learners we serve.

5.3 Accounting and Financial Reviews

  • Accurate Records: We maintain records of incoming donations and outgoing operational expenses - salaries, porridge supplies, and logistics.
  • Reporting: We track performance metrics such as cost-per-cup served, supporting our 20,000+ monthly cups served.
  • No Personal Enrichment: No founder, staff member, or volunteer receives personal profit from donations. Cook salaries are standardised to reflect fair local wage standards.

5.4 Transparency and Public Access

Our donors have the right to know how their contributions are used. For financial inquiries, or to request a summary of how donations have been used, please contact us at info@lishekwaufanisi.org.
